HG : Body Shop - Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Image taken from: www.thebodyshop.co.uk
Aahhh...let me share with you my first HG(holy grail for the uninitiated). I have been using this as my anti-dandruff shampoo for the last five years. I am never, I repeat, NEVER without this in my bathroom. I bring this even to my short trips overseas for fear of having a dandruff break-out.
I've discovered this shampoo when I was on the quest to end my on and off relationship with dandruff. I have used lots of other dandruff shampoos like Head & shoulders, Clear, Sunsilk, Pantene, Selsun Blue, Nizoral and finally Korres. I was just starting to like Body Shop shower gels so when I saw that they had an anti-dandruff shampoo, I figured that it won't hurt to try one.

Lo and behold! My dandruff was not gone in one wash but it did went away in the course of a week! Surprise surprise! I wasn't expecting it to be that effective! I have tried even medicated shampoos and I didn't get the same result as this! I knew then that this is the one and I'm never letting go of it! I love this shampoo to pieces!
Once I felt that my dandruff was under control, I decided to alternate this shampoo with ordinary shampoos. Well, ordinary means shampoos with NO anti-dandruff written on it. I was given the freedom to use other shampoos! Yey!

Price: $16.90 (I've never seen this on any Body Shop warehouse sale)
Would repurchase? I DID for five years and probably forever!

Review: Lancome - Primordiale Nuit Skin Recharge Night Cream

Image taken from www.lancome.co.uk

Since this is my first post, I can't decide which product should garner my first review. I finally decided on Lancome's Primordiale Night cream. Why? Well, it's the most expensive skincare product I've bought the past month and I've been using it for more than 3 weeks already so I think it's already ripe for a review. To start off, here are the product claims taken from Lancome website:
------------------------------------------------
Recharge your skin
Reveal its radiance

The creation of Primordiale Skin Recharge™ night cream by LancĂ´me Laboratories heralds a new era in the fight against the signs of ageing by targeting the surface skin cells where it starts first and intensely renews the surface of the skin

Primordiale Night Skin Recharge, enriched with the dynamic and energetic vitamins Biotin (B8) and Vitamin A and the naturally derived wheat germ extract, reveals a beautifully retextured, younger looking skin. Skin quality appears visibly improved.

This state of the art night cream recharges the skin with moisture to assist optimal skin function. It also helps to stimulate natural cell renewal and help protect against free radicals.

From the 1st morning, a younger looking, retextured skin is revealed: perfectly rested, hydrated and revitalised.

Night after night, the appearance of 1st wrinkles are visibly reduced, skin feels intensely renewed, radiant, vibrantly younger.
-------------------------------------

Well, let's get on with the review. I am on a never-ending search for a great moisturizer that will be suitable for my combination skin. I've started to have a very oily T-zone this year and it is especially obvious on my forehead and chin. So I'm constantly on the look-out for a moisturizer that has an "oh-my-god-i-woke-up-with-no-sleekiness-at-all" feeling.

Primordiale Nuit smells lovely. It has a smell that makes you want to lather it all over your face so you can fall asleep faster. The texture of the cream is not heavy and it's also not light. I guess I can say it's on the medium side. It's easy to spread on the face and you only need about a 20-cent coin size for your face and neck. Heck, that's what the SA told me but I needed less actually. After applying, I immediately noticed that my face was extremely shiny! Shiny like I-don't-want-anyone-to-see-me-and-just-want-to-hide shiny! Seriously! I didn't get discouraged though. Since it's a night cream, I did expect it to be a bit on the heavier side thus shine is inevitable. The real verdict will come in the morning.

The first morning after using Primordiale Nuit, my face felt plumped especially my cheek areas! I really loved that effect. However, I noticed that my forehead was a bit oily as well as my chin. I was a little disappointed BUT the cheek effect overpowered the bit of oiliness. I thought that the night cream is not a miracle cream that I would be able to see the effect only after one night of "excited" application. I continued using this every night for three weeks hoping to see better effects. Alas, I feel that the first morning I woke up with it was the best state my skin had. The longer I used it, the oilier my T-zone feels. I really do feel that this cream is suited for dry/normal skin type gals.

I'm now on the hunt for a new night moisturizer. I'm planning to use the remaining 3/5 of the stuff on my cheeks because that's where I see that it's effective. I need to find a night cream that would steal all of my T-zone oils during the night like the tooth fairy steals your tooth.

Product cost: $155
Would repurchase? No. Too costly for only a "cheek-effect" benefit.
